PARTICIPATORY SPATIAL PLANNING – PROCESSES, CHALLENGES AND TOOLS
International Conference
Krakow (Poland), 15th June 2018
International Conference
Krakow (Poland), 15th June 2018
Residents are getting more and more involved in the urban management process. Their awareness and willingness to participate in shaping urban space is constantly growing. This is the result of legal requirements, bottom-up initiatives as well as local government policies.
The process of participation is also present in the management of valuable natural areas. Very often the activation of a local community is crucial in protecting the natural environment. The specificity of such terrains requires the people to look for common solutions.
The main goal of the conference is to exchange experiences along with theoretical and practical considerations regarding participatory spatial planning. The conference topics include social participation, possibilities and limitations of involving various actors in this process, as well as tools, techniques and methods applied in the participatory spatial planning. Both urban and natural valuable areas will be considered.
The conference will be an opportunity for a meeting of international researchers with practitioners interested in participation processes who represent such disciplines as geography, social sciences, management, environmental sciences, architecture and urban planning.
